Imikpuk Lake

 

Imikpuk Lake in spring. Most of the lake ice is snow-covered, but there are a few bare spots. Imikpuk Lake had the least amount of snow of all the sites, with an average of only 12 cm in April. The lake ice grew to a thickness of 2.1 m. Imikpuk Lake in early summer. The snow has melted and only ice remains. There aren't any melt ponds because the water drains from the ice surface as it melts.
