Scans were made from the bow of the ship to get a sampling of all available ice types. The ship was in motion during the measurements. The solid black line is the mean for the 35 measurements and the dashed red line the standard deviation. There was a predominance of young ice types including open water, nilas, thin ice, and rafted ice.
