Scans were made every 60 seconds from the starboard rail of the flying bridge. The ship was in motion during the measurements. The solid black line is the mean for the 24 measurements and the dashed red line the standard deviation. The dominant ice condition was multiyear ice with a thin snow cover. The variability in ice conditions are evidenced by the range of values in the reflectance.
