Scans were made from the flying bridge of the ship every 60 seconds for 18 minutes. The measurements were stopped once it began to rain. The ship was in motion during the measurements. The solid black line is the mean for the measurements and the dashed red line the standard deviation. The surface was melting bare ice, melt ponds, and leads.
