Freeze-up began in Imikpuk Lake on September 25. Growth continued throughout the winter. The Imikpuk mass balance site, located on Imikpuk Lake, was initially surrounded by snow-covered ice. The snow had melted by 15 June. The site was equipped with four thickness gauges (34, 37, 40, 49) and a downward-looking acoustic sensor measuring the position of the surface. A thermistor string at this site measured vertical profiles of temperature. There were also hobo temperature sensors measuring temperatures at the base of the snow cover. |
