Elson Lagoon

Elson Lagoon in spring. Everything is covered with snow. The snow depth ranged from a few centimeters to 40 cm, with an average of 22 cm. Elson Lagoon in early summer. As the snow melts we can see the ice below. The ice is very dirty. Just before freezing began in the fall there was a storm that stirred sediments from the bottom of the lagoon into the water. When the water froze, these sediments were trapped in the ice, making it look dirty. The sediments in the ice absorb sunlight and makes the ice melt faster.
